Tim Whitaker, M.D., FACS

Dr. Tim Whitaker, his wife Anne-Marie, daughter Caroline, and son Bryson have lived in Blue Ridge, Georgia since opening their practice, BLUE RIDGE SURGICAL, in August, 2004. Dr. Whitaker provides a full range of general surgery consultations and procedures. He received his MD degree from the University of South Florida and completed his general surgery residency at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, New York. He is a Board Certified General Surgeon, and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, broadly trained in general surgery with special training in advanced laparoscopy. He provides colon and rectal cancer screening with the latest in High Definition Endoscopy equipment and Breast Cancer screening with minimally invasive biopsy techniques. He also does a broad range of in-office procedures including: skin cancer treatments, hemorrhoid therapy, ultrasound guided breast biopsies, and vasectomies.

Dr. Whitaker is the Medical Director, Fannin County Emergency Medical Services and provides surgical services at Fannin Regional Hospital in Blue Ridge, Union General Hospital in Blairsville, Chestatee Regional Medcial Center in Dahlonega and Copper Basin Medical Center in Copperhill, TN.

John Stafford, MSN, FNP-C- Surgical Nurse Practitioner

John received his bachelors in science in nursing from SUNY Brockport. He furthered his Surgical career by receiving a certification as an RN First Assistant from Delaware County Community College. He has had a very rewarding career working in the operating room since 1988 as a Certified OR tech, nurse and then Manager of a very busy Ambulatory Surgery Center. He moved to Blue Ridge, Georgia in 2004 to join Dr. Whitaker at Blue Ridge Surgical. In 2008 he completed his Masters in Nursing at North Georgia College and State University and became a Certified Nurse Practitioner. He cares for patients in the office, outpatient clinic, emergency department, and in the inpatient hospital setting. He is the first assistant for Dr. Whitaker during surgical procedures. He is on staff at Fannin Regional Hospital and Union General Hospital. He lives in Mineral Bluff with his wife of 27 years, Paula, and they have two adult children.

Anne-Marie Whitaker, BSN, RN


Anne-Marie graduated with her bachelors of science in nursing from the University of Central Florida. She has enjoyed caring for patients in various areas of nursing for over 17 years. She works as an office nurse with Blue Ridge Surgical and provides direct patient care and overall coordination of extended care. She and her husband Dr. Whitaker live in Blue Ridge with their 2 children and enjoy involvement with local church activities and community events.

 

Eva Newberry - Office Manager and Certified Coder


Eva has 23 years of medical practice experience and is a certified medical coder. She began with Dr. Whitaker at Blue Ridge Surgical with the opening of the office in 2004. She has worked in all of the administrative facets of the office and has been the Office Manager since 2009. She is responsible for the daily functions in the office and is actively involved with managing the information technology services of the practice. She lives in Turtletown with her husband Ricky, and they have 5 children and 12 grandchildren.

 

Rachel Cochran, Medical Assistant

I was born at Fannin Regional Hospital and raised in Fannin County. I graduated from Fannin County High School in 2002 and attended North Georgia Technical College and Dalton State College. I'm a member of Bethel Church in McCaysville, Georgia. I have a daughter, Emmaline. I joined Blue Ridge Surgical in 2011. My favorite thing is being a mom. I'm a firm believer that its not necessarily what you do, or where you're at, but the attitude and state of mind that you take with you.

 


Tedra Herrington - Front Office Specialist


Tedra is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University where she majored in Spanish and minored in Latin American Studies. She has worked part time with Dr. Whitaker at Blue Ridge Surgical since 2006 as a front office specialist. She lives in Cleveland, Tennessee with her husband Joe and daughter Della.

 



Robin Hilton - Front Office Specialist


Robin graduated with the Bachelors degree in Psychology and Human Services from Clayton State University.  She is the newest addition to the Blue Ridge Surgical Staff. She lives in Blue Ridge with her husband Ryan and son Reid. She and her husband are the Nursery and Preschool Directors at Temple Baptist Church in Morganton.
